Figure, an American humanoid robot startup, has released its second-generation humanoid robot Figure 02. From the released video, we can see that Figure 02 has flexible finger movement, faster walking speed, longer battery life, and is equipped with a visual language model (VLM). In order to have a more flexible body, Figure 02 adopts the fourth-generation hand design, with a hand designed with 16 degrees of freedom (DOF), which gives Figure 02 amazing hand flexibility, thereby greatly improving the precision of operation. The highly anticipated Tesla Optimus Gen2, the second-generation Optimus Prime, has only 11 degrees of freedom in its hands. Most other companies have 6-7 degrees of freedom. The intelligence of Figure 02 is reflected in the fact that it is equipped with a visual language model (VLM), which can achieve more natural voice dialogue with humans.
At the hardware level, Figure 02 is equipped with 6 cameras and a more powerful processor. With the support of the large model, it can achieve 3 times the reasoning speed. The addition of speakers and microphones gives it a mouth and ears.
