Testing FPC Camera Modules: A Technical Guide to MIPI-to-USB Testers

June 6, 2026

1. What These Testers Are For
Camera module testers (e.g., UC930, CMU970) are production test boards. They are used to check:

  • Sharpness (MTF)

  • Dirt, stains, dead pixels

  • Vignetting / dark corners

  • Electrical performance (continuity, current)

They output RAW image data for software calculation and analysis. They are not for image effect tuning (color, denoise, ISP enhancement).

2. Sales Scenarios & FAQs
These testers are recommended when customers ask:

  • How to test FPC camera modules.

  • If it's possible to convert to a USB interface for testing.

  • If there are adapter boards, development kits, or OS-accessible solutions for FPC module testing.

3. How the Tester Works (Hardware Setup)
The tester acts as a MIPI-to-USB bridge. Typical setup:

  • Main tester board (UC930 or CMU970)

  • Adapter board (SF LOGO board) – soldered with the matching connector for your specific FPC module

  • Optional dedicated sub-board (for C-PHY or high-speed D-PHY)

Different modules require different adapter boards. One tester can support multiple modules by swapping the adapter board.
